Painting Trees

Finished examples of student work. These show good examples of painted trees.
Steps for the project:
-
Paint the sky. It's a good idea to paint all of the paper, that way you will avoid awkward white areas on your paper.
-
Paint the background. The image on the left has a mountain. The image in the middle added a body of water. The image on the right added trees (the further away an object is, the more washed out the color and less defined the shapes.)
-
Paint the foreground. The image on the left has a body of water and a green hill. The image in the middle has a tan hill. The image on the right has snowy ground.
-
Paint the trees. Start by painting the tree with no leaves. When done add leaves. To make a tree look realistic it should have at least 3 values of color; dark, medium, and light. It is good to leave patches of sky and/or peekaboo branches amongst the clusters of leaves.
