Galaxy & Aurora Borealis
This project is worth 100 points. For this assignment, you can choose to complete one of the following options.
Option 1: Create two small paintings, one of the galaxy AND one of the aurora borealis.
Option 2: Create one large painting, either the galaxy OR the aurora borealis.
Criteria:
-
The whole page will be covered in paint that isn't streaky or see-through.
-
No obvious use of black paint. Black paint can be used BUT only to make other colors darker. Using pure black will result in a major loss of points.
-
The aurora borealis will have a sense of place (Is it near mountains, a lake, other?)
-
The galaxy must have a body of stars (milky way, pinwheel galaxy, other...)
Galaxy
A galaxy is a huge collection of gas, dust, and billions of stars and their solar systems, all held together by gravity. If you want to read more visit this site: https://spaceplace.nasa.gov/galaxy/en/ Examples of the four types of galaxies are provided below.
Aurora Borealis
If you decide to paint an aurora borealis you need to provide a sense of place. Are the lights above water, mountains or someplace else.
An aurora, also known as the polar lights or aurora polaris, is a natural light display in Earth's sky, predominantly seen in high-latitude regions. Auroras display dynamic patterns of brilliant lights that appear as curtains, rays, spirals, or dynamic flickers covering the entire sky. (Wikipedia) The images below can be found on this webpage.
